“Thank You for listening to me and sharing my blog with your colleagues….”
Its that time again- Thanksgiving!! But this year instead of only giving thanks about your family and own personal matters, learn how to give thanks to others that support you, work with or for you, and to those you provide services to. In dentistry it is easy to get caught up in the daily activities at work and then forget to thank employees, co-workers and customers. However, these people make your dental world go round and round, meaning they are critical to your success as a new dentist and a new oral health practitioner. Employees, co-workers, and patients all need to hear the words “thank you”. The saying is true: “Patients don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care”. Start saying thank you to your patients: ” Mrs Jones I appreciate the fact that you came in today to allow me to help you with you crown..thank you for entrusting me with your oral health care.”
Start saying thank you to your dental assistant : “James, thank you for assisting me with that difficult extraction this morning…I could not have done it without you, thanks…”.
Say thanks to your Boss/Employer: “Dr Williams thank you for giving me the opportunity to carry out the mission and values of your office. I enjoy working here with you and the dental team.”
Like the Nike commercial says “Just Do It”, I believe that you should “Just Say It”-say “thank you”. Just like there is no shortage of water that covers the planet, there is no shortage in the number of ways and reasons to say “thank you”. These 2 words can cause a powerful connection between you and the receiver. A connection that creates a new step in the relationship between you and the receiver. A relationship that is the foundation to your continued success as a new dentist, as an associate, and as a caring individual that just happens to also be a dentist.
Enjoy Thanksgiving and start saying “Thank you” to others!!!
